Data Scientist

Because data science has such a vast scope, most persons who work in it are referred to as Data Scientists. We've even heard of names like "citizen data scientist," which simply refers to those who aren't trained or qualified in the discipline but have taught themselves many of the applications.

A good Data Scientist is someone who can master a variety of talents, including working with raw data, employing statistical techniques via data programming languages such as Python or R, and presenting all of those insights in a clear manner to a larger business. Machine learning, Big Data technologies, predictive statistics, recommender systems, and distributed computing are the most common functions (computers on numerous networks or disparate data). Big corporations like Google and Facebook are well-known for hiring a large number of Data Scientists to work on the complicated algorithms that power their businesses.

Data Analyst

A Data Analyst will take the Data Scientist's work and perform further analytics on it utilizing platforms such as R, Python, SQL, and VBA (Excel). Rather with past jobs that may have just reported the data as management information, the goal of a Data Analyst is to figure out why a number occurred. For example, if a retail organization sells 10 things on a Monday but sold 20 the previous Monday, a Data Analyst will seek to determine the root reason of the difference and report back to the relevant departments.

A Data Analyst's findings are frequently displayed within reporting platforms such as Qlik, Tableau, or Sisense, to mention a few.
